ISI Registration of PVC Pipes

PVC Pipes Introduction The white plastic tube is often used in drainage and plumbing systems. PVC stands for polyvinylchloride and is a great alternative to metal pipes. Thermoplastic polymer PVC can be molded into many different shapes to create pipes, fittings and valves.

In the construction of water pipes, sewage pipes and irrigation systems, PVC pipe is widely used. The PVC pipe is easy to use, light, durable and sturdy. It can also be easily recycled, which makes it cost-effective. PVC has a chemically-stable polymer, which undergoes very little modification in its molecular structure. It also experiences little variation in its mechanical strength. These pipes have a much longer life expectancy because they are free of corrosion, scale, or chemical activity.

The smooth bore pipes have a better flow rate than Cement, CI and GI pipe.

BIS Certification

ISI Registration process for PVC pipes: The department has a predefined process that includes testing the product, filling out the application, inspecting the product, and scrutinizing the application.

ISI is the Indian Standards Institute. It was established to set standards for industrial items to ensure their integrity. This is a certification mark which ensures the safety and quality of industrial goods and consumer products. This certification mark is widely recognized in India and verifies industrial goods. ISI offers two registration schemes: mandatory registration and voluntary registration

ISI marks are mandatory for certification in India. The BIS Criteria must be met in full by the manufacturing company to be eligible for ISI Certification.

According to Bureau of Indian Standards' (Conformity Assessment Regulations) 2018, a product must be issued a certificate in order to give assurances to the customer or to tiers about the safety, reliability and quality of the product.

BIS Certification Mark, or Standard Mark (ISI Mark) on a product is a guarantee that the item meets the requirements. The manufacturer must self-certify licensed products after confirming compliance with the Norm.

Through its surveillance activities, the Bureau maintains a constant eye on certified products. The Bureau conducts regular surveillance of licensees' output, including surprise inspections of their products and the testing of sample taken either from the market or factory.

Product testing: The product that requires an ISI licence must be tested at any BIS-recognized lab in accordance with the Indian Standard. Test requests must be sent from manak's online portal for any BIS-recognized lab to the standard. Labs perform all tests as specified in the Indian standards and generate the test reports. The LAB uploads the same test reports on manak, the online portal where the applicants submit their application. Filling out the Application Form: Once the Lab uploads the test reports on the Manak portal, you can then fill in the application form based on that test report. Uploading all documents required by the Department in their respective fields is mandatory. This includes all details requested in the application online. After uploading all documents and details online, applicants must pay any fees due to the department. Post submission of the online application to department. BIS will verify and check all documents and information submitted by applicants. The authenticity of both the uploaded results and the test report are checked.

If the department requires clarifications or any additional documentation, it must be provided before the inspection date. The scrutiny officer will only conduct an inspection if all documents and information submitted are satisfactory.

License Grant: After a satisfactory inspection on site, the inspector submits the inspection reports to the certification officer along with all observations. On the basis of the same, the final license is granted to the applicant in the form of CM/L (Certification Manufacturing License) number. The final license issued to the applicant is a CM/L number (Certification Manufacturing License). After the certificate is granted, the manufacturer may use the ISI Logo as a quality assurance mark on their product. The applicant must pay the Department's marking fee. The first year, the fees are paid to the department in advance. The fees are paid based on the number of production units produced by the manufacturer. The license will only be valid for one year, after which time the applicant must apply to renew the license. Procedure for ISI Certification: ISI Certification Process is classified into two processes, i.e. The ISI certification process is divided into two categories: Simplified Procedure and Normal Procedure. In both the registration and certification processes, ISI's ISI process can be categorized in 7 major steps. In the following figure, the entire ISI application lifecycle is shown in brief.

After the submission of an ISI application, it takes 4 to 5 working weeks for certification. The testing time depends on the product that is being tested. Testing timelines vary depending on the complexity of a product.

The team responsible for the operations and liaisons ensures that the timeline stated above is met by ensuring regular communication with the department, and timely responses in the event of any concerns raised by them. Our team also provides onsite support at the factory inspection to ensure that all aspects are in accordance with BIS ISI standards and regulations. This will avoid any queries or re-inspections. ASC Group's role in certification.
